Remember, in the last post, when I was excited that the voltage to the heat pump, and therefore the heatpump, was now both stable and within spec? It was not! The heat pump voltage regulator is liable to trip nightly. It’s a whole thing now – technically I could get an electrician to put a buck transformer on it to bring it down into spec, but two of the electricians I’ve talked with have straight-up called it ridiculous and that it’s DTE’s problem. Thankfully, DTE seems to be taking it more seriously now, and filed a ticket with a power quality team. Hopefully they’ll do more than show up, measure voltage once at the meter, and leave. That’s what they did the first time.
EDIT: No, no they did not. They’ve granted themselves 6% margin instead of the industry standard 5%, so it’s like 2 volts out of spec for the heat pump. It might really be buck transformer time. There are specialized ones for HVAC, at least.
